Buying 12.5L-15 implement tires
12.5L-15 is an implement tire for free-rolling wheels on farm equipment: wagons, balers, hay rakes, field cultivators, disc harrows and similar machines. It is about 12.5 inches (318 mm) wide on a 15-inch rim; the L means a low-section tire, wide and low for flotation. It is usually made with I-1 rib tread, which rolls easily and resists sideways scrubbing when the implement turns.
It is one step wider than 11L-15 on the same 15-inch rim. The wider tire spreads the load for less rutting in soft fields, but needs a wider rim and more clearance.
What to check
- Load rating: 12.5L-15 comes in several ply ratings, such as 8-ply and 12-ply. Heavy wagons and implements carried on the road need the higher rating. Match or exceed what you have.
- Tread: I-1 rib for most implements; ask about traction (I-3) tread if the wheel needs to drive a mechanism or grip in mud.
- Tube or tubeless: many implement wheels in this size run tubes. Tell us what you use.
- Complete wheels: if you need tire and wheel assemblies, send the bolt pattern and hub details. See wheels and rims.
- Used tires: implement tires often crack from sun and age before the tread wears out, so ask for the date code and sidewall photos.
