Buying 28L-26 tires
28L-26 is a very wide, low-section tire on a 26-inch rim, about 28 inches (711 mm) across. It is used as a drive tire on combines, on large tractors that need maximum flotation, and on other heavy machines working on soft or wet ground. The L means a low section: the tire is much wider than it is tall, which spreads weight over a large footprint and keeps the machine from sinking.
Tread choices
- R-1: standard farm lug for normal field conditions.
- R-2: very deep lugs for rice, cane and flooded or very soft ground.
28L-26 or 23.1-26?
Both fit a 26-inch rim diameter. The 23.1-26 is narrower and taller; the 28L-26 is wider and lower, with more flotation. Changing between them changes the machine’s width, height and gearing, and needs a rim of the right width, so check with us before switching.
What to check
- Ply rating: combines carry heavy grain tanks. Match or exceed your current tires.
- Transport width: two of these on a combine make a wide machine. Check local road rules.
- Freight: tires this size ship on freight. Include the delivery location so we can quote it.
- Used tires: ask for the tread depth, the date code and photos of both sidewalls and the bead area.
