Buying 7.50R16 tires
7.50R16 is the radial version of 7.50-16, a common front tire on utility tractors. It fits the same 16-inch rim and is about 7.5 inches (191 mm) wide, but it is built with radial plies and a belted tread instead of crossed bias plies.
When a radial front makes sense
On a front-wheel-assist tractor that already runs radial rears, radial fronts are usually the right match: most tractor makers advise using the same construction front and rear, because radial and bias tires roll and flex differently. A radial front also rides more smoothly on the road and usually wears longer. If your tractor runs bias rears, stay with the bias 7.50-16 unless the maker says otherwise.
Front-to-rear ratio
The driven front axle is geared to turn slightly faster than the rear. That depends on the exact rolling circumference of both tire sizes, so replace fronts with the same size and construction, and check with us before changing brand or type.
What to check
- Load index: front loaders put heavy weight on the front axle. Match or exceed your current rating.
- Don’t mix: never run a bias and a radial on the same axle.
- Tube type: tell us whether your rims run tubes.
- Used tires: ask for the tread depth, the date code and photos of both sidewalls.
