How do you read the Tru-Trac size?

Take 5.50-16 as an example. It is 140 mm (5.5 in) wide on a 16 in (406 mm) rim. The dash in a bias size marks the construction, and in an inch size the first number is the width in inches and the last is the rim diameter. Our tractor tire size guide explains every number on the sidewall.

Who does the Tru-Trac suit?

Choose it for the front axle of a two-wheel-drive tractor. It steers, it carries the front load and it rolls freely. On a front-wheel-assist tractor the fronts are driven, so the size must match the rears.

What are the limits of the Tru-Trac?

An F-2 style tire is for a free-rolling steering axle, not for pulling. Keep the same tread and size on both sides. On a front-wheel-assist tractor the front tire must roll slightly farther than the gears expect, so match it to the rears with the lead-lag calculator.
