Titan Tires: Who Owns Titan, Where It Makes Them and Are They Good
Titan tires are made by Titan International, Inc., a publicly traded company (NYSE: TWI) based in West Chicago, Illinois. It builds off-highway tires and wheels at plants in the United States, and it also makes Goodyear-brand farm tires under a license from Goodyear.
Titan tires have a name that sounds like a superhero and a reputation that sounds like a heavyweight title fight. The real story is more accountant than action movie. (We looked for a Greek mythology connection. We looked longer than we’d admit.)
Titan tires (also written Titan tire, Titan tires tractor or tractor tires Titan) are made by Titan International, Inc., a publicly traded company (NYSE: TWI) headquartered in West Chicago, Illinois. It builds off-highway tires and wheels in the United States and also makes Goodyear-brand farm tires under license. Here is the full lineup, without the cape.

Titan International owns Titan tires, and it grew by buying plants
Titan Tire Corporation was established in 1993, when Maurice M. Taylor Jr. bought the Dyneer Corporation, an off-road tire maker. In 1997 Titan International became the parent company. Maurice Taylor is still the chairman, according to a June 2025 shareholder note. On its own website, Titan calls itself one of the largest manufacturers of off-the-road tires and wheels.
The company built its range by buying other people’s factories. Wikipedia traces the main steps:
| Year | What happened |
|---|---|
| 1993 | Maurice M. Taylor Jr. buys the Dyneer Corporation and founds Titan Tire |
| 1994 | Buys Pirelli Armstrong’s off-road tire assets |
| 1998 | Buys Fidelity Tire assets |
| 2005 | Buys Goodyear’s farm tire business |
| 2006 | Buys Continental’s off-the-road tire assets in Bryan, Ohio, for about $53 million |
| 2011 | Buys Goodyear’s Latin American off-road tire business for $98.6 million |
Titan makes tires for farm, construction and consumer use. It also builds wheels and undercarriage parts, which means it can sell a tire and wheel as one assembly.

Where are Titan tires made?
Mostly in the United States. Titan’s website lists tire plants in these places:
- Des Moines, Iowa
- Freeport, Illinois
- Bryan, Ohio
- Union City, Tennessee
A June 2025 shareholder note from the chairman counts six US tire plants, adding Jackson and Clinton in Tennessee. The 2011 Goodyear deal also brought a facility in São Paulo, Brazil. Which plant built your tire depends on the model, so check the sidewall and the paperwork rather than guessing.

Titan also makes Goodyear farm tires under license
Goodyear sold its farm tire business to Titan in 2005, but the Goodyear name stayed on the tires. Titan now leads two farm brands: Titan and Goodyear Farm Tire. Tire Review reports that a 2015 agreement let Titan sell and make Goodyear-brand farm tires in more than 100 countries across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Russia and nearby territories. It also bought Goodyear molds in Poland, Turkey and South Africa.
In 2025 Titan renewed its Goodyear farm tire license and added four new segments: light construction and industrial, ATV, lawn and garden, and golf. So a Goodyear tractor tire may well come from a Titan plant. Our Goodyear tractor tires guide covers that side of the story.

The Titan tires we supply
We carry four Titan farm lines. People search for them as Titan tractor tires, Titan farm tires, Titan farm tire, Titan ag tires or Titan agricultural tires. It is the same four lines. And yes, Goodyear Titan tires exist too: Titan builds the Goodyear farm line under license. Prices are per tire, from our live catalog:
| Model | Type | Sizes | Price range |
|---|---|---|---|
| Titan Tru-Trac | F-2 bias front, 3-rib | 5.50-16 to 7.50-16 | $161 to $194 (6.50-16 on request) |
| Titan Hi-Traction Lug | R-1 bias rear | 9.5-16 to 23.1-34 | $278 to $1,987 |
| Titan Hi-Power Lug | R-1 bias rear | 14.9-38, 18.4-28 | $1,417 to $1,521 |

Are Titan tires any good?
We supply Titan, so take this with a pinch of rubber. Here is what the facts say. Wikipedia lists John Deere, AGCO, Case IH, New Holland, Caterpillar and Kubota among Titan’s original equipment customers, and says Titan has built Caterpillar-branded tires since 1999. Tractor makers test tires before they fit them to new machines.
Our opinion: Titan sits at the premium end of what we list. In 18.4-38, our Titan Hi-Traction Lug is $1,454, the highest of the 11 priced R-1 bias listings. The range runs from $738 for the Petlas TA60 to $1,454. If you run a big tractor long days, that can pay back. If it is a weekend tractor, a cheaper bias tire will do the job.
Here are all 11 priced R-1 bias listings in 18.4-38, per tire, from our live catalog:
| Model | Price |
|---|---|
| Petlas TA60 | $738 |
| Galaxy Earth-Pro | $773 |
| Ozka KNK50 | $799 |
| Carlisle Farm Specialist | $936 |
| Ascenso TDB 120 | $943 |
| Alliance 324 FarmPRO | $1,013 |
| BKT TR 135 | $1,199 |
| Cultor AS-Agri 19 | $1,300 |
| CEAT Farmax R1 | $1,360 |
| Firestone Super All Traction II 23° | $1,383 |

Prices of other brands are in our tractor tire cost guide. If you are weighing Titan against an Indian-built brand, our BKT guide has the facts on that side.

When Titan isn’t the right tire
Honest answer: if your tractor maker specifies a different tire, or your size isn’t in a Titan line, don’t force it. And if your current tires are fine, keep running them. A tire that fits your machine and your work beats a famous name on the sidewall.
